CCI Equipment

ISOBUS communication capabilities offer simple, quick connection between tractor, implement, and terminal, minimizing the need for multiple machine specific terminals. In 2009, KUHN and five other agricultural implement manufacturers founded the Competence Center ISOBUS (CCI) to develop ISOBUS solutions for their implements. Since then, multiple other manufacturers have joined the group to offer effective ISOBUS solutions and continue to drive development. In the future, continued work with the CCI group and ISOBUS innovation ensures that Kuhn North America continues to offer simple, effective connectivity on a wide range of machinery, including balers, wrappers, rotary rakes, mergers, fertilizer spreaders, and TMR mixers.

CCI 1200

The CCI 1200 ISOBUS terminal features a 12.1" (30.7 cm) multi-touch touchscreen similar to to most modern cell phones and tablets. The monitor functionality can be customized to match the needs of your operation."

CCI 800

The 8” ISOBUS CCI 800 terminal is the perfect size for your tractor cab and can help you control and easily manage your machines and improve efficiencies with advanced precision farming capabilities!

CCI 50

The CCI 50 is a 5.6” (14.2 cm) multi-touch ISOBUS compatible screen that is versatile and allows you to operate a wide variety of implements via one terminal. The camera input and automatic brightness help operators monitor those hard-to-see areas.

SST

The Smart Soil Technology™ ISOBUS control system provides a completely new way for operators to control their tillage equipment from the tractor cab. Available as an option on all folding Excelerator® XT models and all Dominator models.

What is ISOBUS?

ISOBUS is a communication protocol based on the ISO 11783 standard. It is a standard IT language which enables communication between tractors, terminals, farm management software and equipment, from the major agricultural machinery manufacturers. It allows machines to be controlled manually or automatically using an in-cab terminal, with any brand of equipment.

Why was ISOBUS created?

Before the ISOBUS standard was created, compatibility between different brands of electronic systems was complicated, and sometimes impossible. Different control terminals were required for different tractor/machine combinations. The ISOBUS system has resolved incompatibility problems by standardizing communication between tools, no matter the brand. It has made communication between different certified ISOBUS tracotrs and equipment possible, so different brands of machines can be operated with just one terminal.

Who created ISOBUS?

The ISOBUS standard was a joint venture involving leading agricultural machinery and equipment manufacturers. In 2008, the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) was created to speed up development. This organization provides additional guidelines for the ISO standard, as well as precise ISOBUS functionality definitions.

Who certifies the ISOBUS standard?

To validate the compatibility of ISOBUS solutions and equipment, the AEF has implemented a certification system for ISOBUS functionalities. An online database (https://www.aef-isobus-database.org) contains all the certifying tests. It is easy to check whether tractors, machines, terminals, and even farm-management software are compatible by selecting the equipment concerned. KUHN is a member of the AEF and contributes to developing the ISOBUS standard.

KUHN and the CCI:

KUHN is also a founding member of the CCI (Competence Center ISOBUS), founded in 2009, in collaboration with other manufacturers. The purpose of CCI is to develop innovative ISOBUS solutions for equipment control, such as terminals and joysticks, as well as software to automate functions via GPS, to meet the growing needs in precision farming practices and  record keeping.

Which KUHN machines are ISOBUS compatible?

Many KUHN machines come standard with AEF-certified ISOBUS technology, such as:

  • Seed drills
  • Fertilizer spreaders
  • Quad-rotor rotary rakes
  • Mounted and trailed mower conditioners
  • Commercial mergers
  • Round and Large Square Balers, including high density balers
  • Round baler-wrapper combinations (VBP 3200 Series)
  • Bale wrapper (RW 4014 only)
  • Plows

These machines are compatible with ISOBUS terminals found on the market. In addition, KUHN provides fully customised solutions developed for our machines, such as our AEF-certified ISOBUS terminals:

  • CCI 1200 –12.1” terminal
  • CCI 800 – 8” terminal
  • VTI 60 – 5.7” terminal

KUHN also offers an ISOBUS joystick, the CCI A3, which displays all functions on a touch screen so that you can view and activate functions directly.

In addition, precision farming solutions are available for the CCI 800 and CCI 1200 terminals, such as:

  1. Section Control: Automated function control, by GPS, at headlands or in field points.
  2. Guidance assistance: Assistance with precision steering.
  3. Variable rate application: Adapts application rates (fertilizer, seeds, etc.) to variations in the field. This function is compatible with many different modulation solutions.
  4. Documentation and job recording: Detailed monitoring of operations carried out on the field.
  5. Data exchange between different farm management software via Agrirouter.

Be sure to check machine specifications to verify what ISOBUS solutions are compatible.
